Old Town

It's an affluent neighborhood of lovingly restored cottages, settled by Germans who worked in nearby factories. The walls of St. Michael's Church (built in 1869) survived the great Chicago fire.

The annual Old Town Art Fair started in 1950 and still takes place every June.

During the sixties, Old Town was a hippie enclave and a counterculture tourist strip.
